AI and candidate-owned performance

AI in graduate recruitment: what 8 selective employers permit and protect

All eight institutions in the reviewed AI-policy subset publish an explicit boundary or control around candidate or employer AI use in recruitment. Seven of the eight explicitly protect at least one assessment or interview context through an AI restriction or candidate-owned-performance requirement; BCG is not included in that stage-specific numerator because the reviewed guidance does not establish a blanket live-assessment prohibition.

Limit: Do not generalise 8/8, or the stage-specific 7/8 result, to all selective employers. The seven protected-stage policies must not be reported as seven blanket AI bans. Published rules do not establish actual enforcement or hiring effects.

same employer, different system

The same employer can select differently by market

BlackRock's 2027 EMEA Full-Time Analyst programme publishes a 30 September 2026 deadline for London, a 30 October 2026 deadline for Edinburgh and a 31 January 2027 deadline for Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Riyadh, while stating that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Limit: This is a programme-specific cross-market observation, not evidence that all BlackRock or elite-employer programmes use different regional deadlines.

verified change over time

NUS Law changed when shortlisted applicants reach interview

The written test became a gate to interview rather than a stage that all shortlisted applicants were described as attending alongside the interview.

Limit: This is one institution, one undergraduate Law admissions route and one sequencing feature. It does not establish a wider trend in university or elite selection.
