What Who Gets In? actually studies.

Systematic, source-led research into structured early-career selection at highly selective employers. The Employer Census defines breadth; evidence is mapped by employer, geography, programme, candidate population, recruitment cycle and selection question. Unknowns stay visible.

Research unit

Employer x geography x programme x candidate population x recruitment cycle x selection dimension x observation date.

Candidate population

Primarily students, graduates and other structured early-career entrants. Experienced lateral and executive hiring are outside the systematic census unless a separate study explicitly includes them.

Priority geography

UK/London; US/New York; Hong Kong; Singapore; and GCC, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh kept distinct where evidence requires. Global, regional, country, city and office evidence are not interchangeable.

Selection-question families

• ACADEMIC DEGREE - Degree required, degree level, discipline restrictions or explicit openness to any discipline
• ACADEMIC GRADE - Published university grade standard (First, 2:1, GPA, percentage, 'strong academic record', explicit no minimum)
• SCHOOL GRADES - A-level, GCSE, IB, UCAS, SAT/ACT or other school-leaving requirements
• DEGREE TIMING - Year of study, graduation window, masters/PhD/gap-year eligibility
• PRIOR EXPERIENCE - Maximum experience, finance experience required or explicitly not required, internship prerequisites
• UNIVERSITY ACCESS - All-schools language, target/core/partner schools, campus recruiting footprint, access and contextual programmes
• SELECTION STAGES - Tests, interviews, assessment centres, superdays, case studies, written exercises, references and their order
• APPLICATION LIMITS - Caps, recommendations, office or business combination limits, reapplication rules
• TIMING - Rolling versus fixed deadlines, open and close dates, early-close warnings
• ELIGIBILITY - Citizenship, work authorisation, sponsorship, residency, language, age
• AI POLICY - Candidate AI-use rules and, separately, employer AI use and human review in decisions
• CONVERSION - Insight to internship, internship to return offer or graduate programme, vacation scheme to training contract

Employer universe

The census is the research sampling frame. Major omissions should be detected by the system, not left for readers to notice.

Breadth is not depth

Employer Census defines breadth. Evidence Register records governed observations. Global Selection Atlas is a smaller depth product for employers with enough cross-market evidence.
